Botanical garden

Botanical garden in Ashgabat is located in the Eastern part of the city, on the territory of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, between the streets 2029, Gerogly. In the immediate vicinity of the garden are the Institute of Agriculture of Turkmenistan Embassy of Iran with a small living quarter for diplomats, cinema “Kosmos” and the restaurant “Aina”.

This is the South garden and one of the oldest in the entire territory of the former Soviet Union. The Botanical garden was founded in 1892, when this place was organized in Ashgabat specialized Botanical station.Then on the base station formed a Gardening school name Kuropatkin, which laid the Foundation for the future of the garden. The status of the Botanical garden was acquired in 1929, and since 1951 he was a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic.
